Accessible Design & Compliance Considerations for Mixed Development Sites

Two Day Training – November 2nd & 3rd Greenville CAN presents a two day ADA training focused on Title II (Government) & III (Public) ADA Standards and 504 & Fair Housing Act as they relate to housing in Mixed Development Sites.

Day One provides an overview of federal requirements and standards, review of site arrival, parking and PROW considerations, designing with future use in mind including festivals and other temporary events, and a review of federal housing design requirements to consider with mixed development sites.  Regulations enforced by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Housing & Urban Development (HUD) will be reviewed. Common errors and omissions will be discussed and best practices will be presented for mixed development facilities in order to ensure facilities are accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities. The day will end with Questions & Answers with DOJ & HUD.

Day Two focuses ADA Title III Requirements for Businesses and Public Accommodations with common barriers presented.  A review of IRS tax credits will be presented along with technical support resources.  An overview of the complaint process and current cases will be discussed.  The day will end with Questions & Answers with DOJ.

ADA, Title II Training – RESCHEDULED TO JANUARY 14 & 15, 2016
Greenville CAN presents a two day ADA training focused on Title II (Government) ADA Standards.

Day One provides an overview of ADA Title II requirements and standards with comparison to State Standards for county and municipal governments and their contractors.  Regulations enforced by the Department of Justice and Department of Transportation will be reviewed. Changes in effect since March 15, 2011 will be discussed. Common errors and omissions will be discussed and best practices will be presented for existing facilities and new construction and alterations in order to ensure facilities are accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities.

Day Two focuses on the ADA Recreation Standards and Guidelines including but not limited to Amusement Rides, Recreational Boating Facilities, Exercise Machines and Equipment, Fishing Piers and Platforms, Golf Facilities, Miniature Golf Facilities, Play Areas, Swimming Pools, Wading Pools, and Spas, Shooting Facilities with Firing Positions and Outdoor Developed Areas.  All areas will be covered but focus will be on recreation facilities offered in the Upstate Area.
